Children's Ministry

Our Vision: We are passionate about joining together with families to lead and encourage all children to live a life centered on Jesus our Lord and Savior. Our Mission: We want every child to DISCOVER and embrace the amazing love of God so that they will GROW in a deep relationship with Jesus and have a heart to SHARE that relationship with others.

CONTACT CHILDREN’S MINISTRY DIRECTORS, MICHELLE KIRIAKOS AT (925) 498-9805 OR TORI DOMBROSKI AT (925) 498-9804, FOR MORE INFORMATION ABOUT OUR CHILDREN'S PROGRAM.

Our Approach

The kids are taught about the greatest story of all time (the Bible) in a loving, safe and fun environment. They are encouraged to ask questions, bring friends, and develop friendships in their classes. We believe that connecting with other believers is important for children to maintain their faith through high school into college and beyond. Our middle school and high school students are involved in our children's programs so that when our 5th grader's transition to middle school they already have established friendships and role models. We connect parents to what the kids are learning with Big Picture Cards for Families, which present the bible story, main point, and key passage so that you can explore the Word with your children.

Nursery / Toddler Room

The Canyon Creek Nursery cares for infants and toddlers up to 3 years old during Sunday services and other events as announced. Every Sunday, we share a short age-appropriate Bible story and offer a fun craft and/or an activity that relates to the Bible story, in addition to independent play time. When you arrive at church, a Lobby Host or Courtyard Host will be happy to direct you and introduce you to the nursery staff. If you have any questions about our nursery, please contact our Nursery/Toddler Room Coordinator, Chris Brack.

Canyon Creek Kids - Discover, Grow & Share!

We are currently using Gospel ProjectLight curriculum to teach biblical truths and stories in an interesting and engaging way.  The Gospel Project curriculum takes children on a journey through the Bible from beginning to end - with the important heroes, heroines and stories from Genesis to Revelations.  Most importantly, every Bible story points them to the ultimate hero: Jesus the Savior and the ultimate truth: the Gospel.  Children learn God’s story and what it means for their lives.

During the 9:00 AM service, a Canyon Creek Kids class is available for kindergarteners through 5th grade. This class tends to be smaller and are ideal for children who prefer quieter learning environments. Our Nursery/Toddler Room is open for preschoolers, toddlers, and infants during this service.

During the 10:15 AM service, Canyon Creek Kids classes are available for children from age 3 through 5th grade. The 3-year-olds through kindergarteners go directly to their classrooms for a fun, activity-filled morning! The 1st - 5th grade are taught in a Large Group/Small Group format. The first half hour is spent in a large group with worship music and fun, interactive lessons in the Gathering Hall. We use a variety of teaching tools to help tell the Bible story - videos, object lessons, games, skits, etc. The second half of the morning is spent in classroom small group discussions and activities with kids grouped by their grade.

Read the Class Descriptions for more information.

Join Our Team!

“My desire was to bring these children one step closer to Jesus, but in many ways, they were the ones causing me to draw closer to Christ.” - Traci M., 5th Grade Teacher

Please prayerfully consider joining the Canyon Creek Kids team.  It is a great way to serve this church community and its youngest members. We can share Jesus with these kids because of a wonderful team of teachers and assistants.  They make our ministry possible.

We are in need of Sunday School teachers and assistants. All lessons and crafts are prepared ahead of time by the Children's Ministry staff. We ask our teachers and assistants to read the lesson plan prior to Sunday, prepare their hearts and come ready to love our children by teaching them about Jesus!

For the safety of our children, all teachers and assistants are fingerprinted and a federal background check is conducted. In addition, teachers work in pairs in the classrooms. To join our team, please contact our Ministry Directors, Michelle Kiriakos (1st through 5th graders) and Tori Dombroski (Infants through Kindergarten)

WILD NIGHT! - 4th/5th Grade Youth Group

FALL 2016 Schedule - 1.27 | 2.10 | 2.24 | 4.21 | 5.12

What do 4th and 5th graders like to do? Get wild! And where should they go to do it? Wild Night!

Wild Night is Canyon Creek’s Friday night, fun-for-all, jammin’ good-time for 4th and 5th graders. Wild Night gets your kids out of the house and together with their friends in a safe but fantastically fun place. They’ll play games, listen to music and just hang out with friends. Together they’ll learn what it means to be a Christian through short, engaging, and age-appropriate Bible lessons.

One of the best things about Wild Night is how it prepares 4th and 5th graders for staying connected with church friends when they reach junior high. They’ll find role models in the junior high and high school leaders who lead Wild Night activities, under the direction of our Youth Ministry staff.

Check the Calender for the next Wild Night. Generally, they’re held on Friday nights during the school year from 6:30-8:00 PM in the Gathering Hall. Encourage your child to bring a friend.

Everyone is welcome!

Special Events

We offer special events for children throughout the year, including Girls' and Dudes' Nights Out, Vacation Bible School, Junior Getaway, and Christmas season events such as parties to pack shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child, and build advent wreaths and gingerbread houses.

Junior Getaway

This exciting, action-packed weekend for 4th and 5th graders is held annually at Mt. Hermon's Redwood Camp, one of the best Christian youth camps in Northern California. The junior high and high school leaders they know from Wild Night share their cabins, providing a friendly big brother or sister to connect with while away from home.

Luke 18:16 Jesus called the children to him and said, “let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.”
